This year, with the help of our Ambassadors, Christ House is hosting a virtual Speaker Series on homelessness and health care featuring former Year Long Volunteers (YLVs). These informative sessions are open to the public and are a chance to learn more about the causes of homelessness, the challenges individuals experiencing homelessness face, as well as solutions and organizations working to support this population.
A Conversation with Kelley Reed, MSW
September 29, 2022
Kelley is the Director of the Kairos Program, Christ House’s long-term addictions recovery community for men suffering from chronic illness. Kelley began her social work career as a case management YLV in 2014. At Christ House Kelley learned about the complex systems on which patients rely, and she gained valuable experience assisting patients in navigating those systems. Kelley uses the training she received at Christ House, as well as her experience providing psychotherapy and case management services across a variety of settings, to help the Kairos members maintain healthy, sober lives.
A Conversation with Dr. Anne Cardile
February 25, 2022
Dr. Anne Cardile is the Medical Director for the Health Care for the Homeless Program at Unity Health Care, a network of community health centers in Washington, DC which serves 100,000 patients a year. Dr. Cardile’s time as a YLV at Christ House helped establish in her the “habit of service” and educate her on the significant disparities in access to care which can exist side by side in a city. Drawing on the foundation laid by her time at Christ House, Dr. Cardile has worked with Unity Health Care for 17 years and is dedicated to expanding access to quality health care and social services for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Dr. Cardile worked at Christ House as a YLV from 1996-1997 as a Social Work Assistant.
