During our recent Volunteer Appreciation Night, Dave Long (Director of Volunteers) interviewed Janelle Goetcheus (Co-founder and Medical Director) for a special look into Christ House’s past, present, and vision for the future. Listen to clips of the interview:
Introduction
What brought you and Allen to Washington? Christ House began in a relationship with the Church of the Saviour. What is a Church of the Saviour mission model? The first patient came to Christ House on Christmas Eve 1985. What was that first Christmas evening like? One of Christ House’s first stories involved a man who lost his life on a cold, winter night. Can you talk about that story and how it sparked the start of Christ House? Why did you chose this particular building in Adams Morgan? Your idea was to one day close Christ House. What needs do you see today that cause Christ House to consider even more options of care? Was involving volunteers the intention from the beginning? Closing
