Open Mic Night is a new tradition at Christ House. Patients, staff and volunteers gather for a night of showing off and having fun. Though we don’t actually need a microphone in our activities room, we have a computer with all the best that YouTube has to offer (karaoke songs!) and a pair of speakers. This year’s open mic audience saw three dance routines (including a spirited Michael Jackson-esque dance to “Smooth Criminal”), a comedy routine featuring a Daffy Duck impersonation, and quite a few singers belting everything from reggae to gospel to classic rock.
Our Activities Coordinator reflected on the night, “I think the best part about open mic night was how supportive and encouraging everyone was to one another. It was so evident that we were in a community that jokes around, laughs together, and encourages one another to step outside of their comfort zone and do something fun and exciting.”

We look forward to working with your staff every month. Margaret, in particular, is such a joy. Every Saturday Margaret greets us; asks what we are preparing and offers as much help as we need. We’re so thankful for Jose and others that come in, while we are serving, to assist with cleaning the kitchen. St. Thomas’ Parish is dedicated to this mission.
