Patient Spotlight: Earl

October 17, 2015

20151001_021921

Earl

How would your friends describe you?
I’m quiet at times, but also rather talkative. They would say that I’m ready to laugh but also a thinker, and that I’m handsome!

What is your favorite food?
Potatoes! Any and all types. Fried, mashed, baked, you name it. I also like fried chicken, collard greens, corn, and grits. I would spend vacations from school in the south with my grandparents and they would cook for me, so I grew to love southern food.

What’s one of your favorite things about DC?

The Museums. I’ve been to all of the Smithsonian Museums a few times at least. My favorite is the National Gallery of Art.

What is your goal in 2015?
To get well- in all aspects. Specifically, I mean that there be no more drugs. I also dream to eventually have a business where I would sell accessories such as hats, scarves, coats, and shoes.

What is the best compliment that you’ve ever received?
I’ve had compliments in the past, but Christ House beats it all. I’ve been asked to speak at the upcoming AA meeting, and it means something to have this compliment because I’ve worked hard to get to where I am today. It also means that others recognize that I have something important to share that they are interested in hearing.

Who would you most like to have dinner with?
Coco Chanel. Of course she’s not living but… she is the first that came to my mind.

What is your favorite type of music and artist?
Nina Simone is my favorite artist, and I love the Blues, Rock and Roll, and Opera.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Washington State- I just want to see how it is. I like the rain. I love trench coats and hats and I think it might be like England or London.
