Alyssa Glenn, Nurse
What do you do in your role at Christ House?
As a nurse at Christ House, I work to provide medical care and emotional support to the patients. I educate patients on medication and health. I coordinate patient care – schedule appointments, work with the pharmacy, and deal with insurance issues. I assess wounds and do blood draws. I also am there to sit and listen.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
My favorite aspect of my job is being able to be with people, to be present to them and seek to know them and understand where they are at in a difficult time in their life. It’s humbling, difficult, beautiful and joyful to be a nurse at Christ House.
What are three words you would use to describe Christ House?
Grace, healing, compassion.
What is your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possessions are my photos. Photos given to me of family before I was born, photos of myself and my family growing up, photos of memorable places I’ve traveled, and photos of people I love. Time spent with others and experiences are what I treasure the most.
What is a random fact that most people don’t know about you?
I was born on Friday the 13th. Look out!
If you could have a superpower, what would you choose?
If I could have any superpower it would be to be able to fly. I love traveling and seeing new places. What could be better than never having to pay for another airplace ticket again and being able to fly anywhere in the world?
Yay Alyssa!
