Once a week, we offer our patients the opportunity to visit the Mt. Pleasant Library, which is less than a 10 minute walk from Christ House. The trip gives patients the chance to research a topic of interest, take a literary adventure, look for jobs or housing, and email family and friends. There are typically a few patients that especially enjoy the library and make sure not to miss a trip. One of our current patients checks out three nonfiction books each week and reads them all before the next visit. It is our hope that through activities like these, our patients find respite from their immediate concerns, learn something new, and cultivate their unique passions.
