Where do you call home?
Our home is the Spring Valley Bruderhof in Farmington, PA, just south of Pittsburgh. The Bruderhof is a church of international Christian communities where families live together sharing resources as inspired by the early Christian Church.
What drew you to Christ House?
Newly married in November 2015, we were given the opportunity to serve outside one of our communities. Members of our church have volunteered at Christ House in the past. We were excited to continue this contact. Both of us are inspired to practically support the mission here as we see lives transformed by many faithful people and the love of Jesus.
What are some of your most fulfilling experiences at Christ House?
Heather: I really enjoy working with the Christ House kitchen staff. Good food is essential for strength and health. Our shared meals are a great chance to get to know each other’s journeys.
Karsten: I have been doing maintenance and small renovation projects at both Kairos House and Christ House. There is fulfillment in putting something back to order.
What is an important lesson you have learned that you will take with you?
We have seen God’s love manifest in many stories of healing and recovery at Christ House. Sharing this time with so many who receive this strength from Jesus inspires us to truly thank God every day for His great love for all people.
