Ben Consilvio, a weekly volunteer with Ignatian Volunteer Corps, is in his second year serving at Christ House. He brings a wealth of lifetime experience, including some fifty years of work in cybersecurity. He has put his patience and his technical skills to use, helping us with data entry and updating records. He also helps in other ways too, such as by covering the reception desk and organizing our donations as they come in. On any given week, Ben can also be found visiting with patients and providing a listening ear- and a Dad joke or two.
“The people, the patients and the staff are great. Everybody here is very welcoming, this is a great place to help out, and I’m glad I can help! I get a lot more out of it than I give, I think. I learn a lot, seeing how people can help and support each other.”
“Christ House is unique is that they seem to collectively- not just the staff in general, but everybody- seems to help the patients, in all their different ways, with all their different needs. It’s not just physical treatment for a medical condition, but emotional and psychological support and a general attitude of welcoming and comfort.”
Ben lives in Maryland with his wife, Beverly, also serving with Ignatian Volunteer Corps, and he has four adult children.
