Exciting News at Kairos House: Introducing Renewed Way

February 5, 2026

We are pleased to share that a new program has begun at Kairos House, created as the next step for long-time Kairos Members who have completed the New Day classes. Called Renewed Way, this program responds to a growing need for deeper engagement and continued growth in recovery.

Since the addictions program began in 2000, New Day has served as the foundation of recovery at Kairos. Designed for individuals in the earliest stages of recovery- often arriving to Christ House directly from active substance use- New Day focuses on stabilization and the first three steps of the 12-step model. All Kairos men complete at least two three-month cycles of the program, graduating twice over a six-month period.

As Kairos Program Director Cristin Anthony explains, “A lot of our men have been part of Kairos a very long time. They have a lot of the basics, they understand the steps, and they are often past step three.” What staff began to notice was a desire for forward movement- less stagnancy and more opportunity to explore the deeper roots of addiction.

That insight led to the creation of Renewed Way, a program exclusively for Kairos House Members.

Renewed Way uses evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, to explore how thoughts, emotions, and past experiences shape addictive behaviors. As Cristin puts it, “We use evidence-based techniques to get at the heart of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that led to this addiction in the first place.” For many participants, this work includes examining the impact of trauma and long-standing emotional patterns.

With the support of a trained facilitator, Renewed Way creates space for honest reflection and meaningful conversation about how unhelpful thought patterns can fuel emotions and behaviors. Because participants are no longer in early recovery, they are better equipped to engage in this deeper work. “Now that we have folks stabilized,” Cristin notes, “they are able to dig into some of those things they wouldn’t be able to address earlier in recovery.”

Renewed Way represents an important evolution in the Kairos House program- honoring the foundation built through New Day while offering Members new tools for long-term healing, self-understanding, and growth.
