Two weeks ago, we welcomed Vince Pigott for his first day at Christ House as a Year-Long Volunteer! Vince is volunteering through the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps (CapCorps), which offers men and women the opportunity to serve in full-time positions that uplift the poor, vulnerable and marginalized, while living simply in an intentional community with other volunteers and accompanied by the joyful fellowship of the Capuchin Friars.
A few words from Vince: “I am from State College, Pennsylvania. I am very excited in getting closer with God and further developing my faith and helping with every and anything I can in my role. I like reading mostly history and mystery books, being outside, hanging out with friends, exercising, and playing sports and chess.”
Vince will divide his time between supporting case management with insurance checks, patient appointments, and database maintenance and coordinating patient activities.
We asked Vince how things have been going so far:
“My first couple of weeks at Christ House have been a blessing that I am truly grateful for! Every aspect of working here has exceeded any expectations I had. All of the patients that come in have been incredible to meet, work with, and have their own unique stories to share and learn from. The people I work with are genuine, hardworking, and do whatever they can to help me get acclimated to my role, which is very helpful.
The work here is incredibly satisfying and makes me feel like I am truly helping out in the best ways I can. I also greatly appreciate that everyone here equally loves coffee and gladly showed me how to use a couple of the machines here. I look forward to learning more about my role and the work at Christ House. I feel like the following year will be incredible.”
We are grateful to Cap Corps for consistently supporting us with dedicated, compassionate volunteers who make a difference in the lives of patients, staff, and volunteers alike each and every day. We are looking forward to another incredible year together!
